Bastiaan Bruyndonckx is a partner in our Commercial & Litigation practice, where he leads the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the Information Governance & Data Protection (Privacy), and the Intellectual Property (IP) practices.
With a specialisation in all aspects of data and technology law, Bastiaan focuses on information governance, data (both personal and non-personal), cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), IT and digital regulation, technology contracting and procurement, outsourcing, electronic communications (telecom), and e-commerce. His expertise extends to intellectual property law, encompassing trademarks, domain names, copyright, software rights, technology transfer arrangements, and R&D collaborations.
Bastiaan provides comprehensive advice to companies across various industry sectors on data protection (privacy) matters and regulation of the digital space. He has extensive experience in ICT-related transactions, including large-scale software licensing, development, and implementation projects. He advises both customers and suppliers on various types of outsourcing projects (BPO and ITO) and offers guidance on electronic communications regulatory issues. His broad experience includes drafting and negotiating agreements in the field of electronic communications, assisting clients with e-commerce (B2B, B2C, and C2C) and Internet projects, and managing long-term, technology-driven strategic agreements, including those within the framework of M&A transactions. Bastiaan also has solid experience in cybersecurity, cybercrime, and contentious ICT matters, and regularly advises on projects related to new technologies (including Artificial Intelligence) and innovative data use.
As an expert in intellectual property, Bastiaan is well-equipped to navigate the complex IP issues that may arise in data and technology projects and transactions..
Bastiaan is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences on (personal) data, technology and ICT matters. He regularly authors articles published in (international) legal reviews such as World Data Protection Report, DataGuidance, Computerrecht (Computer Law), Privacy & Informatie (Privacy & Information), Bulletin des Assurances (Insurance Law Journal) and Tijdschrift Persoonsgegevens en Privacy (Personal Data and Privacy Review).
