Kana Manabe has over 10 years’ experience practising in Asia with a strong focus on Myanmar. She has been involved in various transactions in Myanmar, including numerous joint venture transactions between Japanese and Myanmar companies across a range of sectors (e.g. health, real estate, logistics, manufacturing and energy sector). She advised various foreign companies on their joint ventures in 2019 following the opening of Myanmar’s insurance sector to foreign investment, and played a major role in the acquisition of shares in Myanmar Breweries Limited by Kirin Holdings Singapore Pte Ltd, and the establishment of businesses in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone. In addition, she has significant experience advising on disputes and compliance matters, with a particular focus on complex international disputes and arbitrations as well as internal investigations. She has handled a number of high-profile compliance matters in ASEAN countries including Myanmar.
