Julio César Prieto joined the firm in 2010 and is a Junior Partner specializing in Intellectual Property and Regulatory Affairs. He has extensive experience in trademark prosecution and registration, intellectual property protection, intellectual property asset acquisitions, and intellectual property due diligence. His practice includes advising clients on trademark protection strategies, the filing, prosecution, registration, and enforcement of traditional and non-traditional trademarks, as well as trademark and patent licensing and assignment agreements.
Julio also advises clients on trademark infringement and opposition proceedings, copyright protection, copyright licensing and infringement matters, software protection and licensing, franchise development and franchise agreements, confidentiality agreements, distribution agreements, commercial contracts, data protection and image rights, and co-branding agreements. In addition, he provides legal counsel on the authorization and use of appellations of origin.
In the regulatory field, Julio advises clients on regulatory compliance, Official Mexican Standards (NOMs), product labeling requirements, sanitary registrations, import permits, and amendments to sanitary registrations.
