Julian is a London-based corporate partner. His practice focuses on equity and debt capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, (particularly in the energy and natural resources sector (he was formerly head of Freshfields’ metals and mining group)), and general corporate law advice.
He recently advised on the IPOs of Petershill Partners, Airtel Africa, Vivo Energy, Sophos, Shawbrook, TSB Banking and Virgin Money; on rights issues by SSP, Aryzta, Cobham, FirstGroup and Barclays PLC; for HM Treasury on numerous sales and other transactions involving shares in Lloyds Banking Group and The Royal Bank of Scotland (now NatWest Group); on BP’s acquisition of BHP Billiton’s US unconventional assets, on Xstrata’s all share merger with Glencore, on Telecity’s acquisition by Equinix and on Vivo Energy’s acquisition by Vitol.
