Juan Pablo Gutiérrez Zamora

Energy and Natural Resources

Partner of the Energy, Mining and Natural Resources team and responsible for the electrical energy area of the firm. His professional practice focuses on advising national and foreign clients structuring energy projects, and in the acquisition of assets and companies in the energy sector. In addition, he has participated as an advisor in different electric energy and hydrocarbon´s contracting mechanisms, including auctions, direct contracting schemes, and self-generation schemes. Moreover, he has been responsible for the draft and negotiation of infrastructure contracts of the area, which include EPC, O&M and BOOMT contracts, among others.

Juan Pablo has a Law Degree from the Universidad del Rosario (2011). He has a Postgraduate Degree in Administrative Law from the same institution (2012) and an LL.M. in Energy and Natural Resources from Queen Mary University of London (2015).

Counsel to Synermin S.A.S. in the structuring of a group-wide energy purchase scheme to optimize supply for multiple companies within its corporate structure.

Counsel to AES Colombia & CIA S.C.A. E.S.P. in connection with a long-term loan granted by Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional (FDN) for the construction and operation of a social purpose rural solar-generation project in the municipality of Uribia (La Guajira).

Counsel to Oleoducto Los Llanos Orientales in the regulatory requirements for the entry into operation of the Caño Sur pipeline, one of the most relevant midstream infrastructure projects in Colombia.

Counsel to Tecnoglass S.A.S. in a competitive process to select the energy supplier for its production plant under a 10-year PPA. Our role included drafting the bidding guidelines, structuring the contractual framework, and evaluating regulatory alternatives to secure the most efficient supply.
