Career

Partner at PPU expert in Corporate/M&A and Real Estate. He is a recognized expert in real estate matters, according to the most prestigious publications, and has represented Colombian and international clients on corporate, commercial and real estate matters, concerning important projects in Colombia. Juan Carlos was in charge of the coordination of the entire expansion plan of Carrefour in Colombia, including the acquisition and implementation of stores, malls, commercial premises and fueling stations. He was also in charge of the structuring, commercialization and implementation of the Santafé Mall in Bogotá, Santafé in Medellín, Multicentro Cúcuta and the Santa Ana Mall in Bogotá, and is currently advising, among others, the expansion plans of the Parque Arauco, Drummond Ltd., Anglo Gold Ashanti, Gramalote Limited, and other companies dedicated to urban, rural and agro-industry real estate projects.

Personal

Juan Carlos has a Law Degree from Universidad del Rosario (1989). He also has a Postgraduate Degree in Civil Law, graduated with honors, from Université de Paris II La Sorbonne (1990) and a Degree in Public International Law and American Legal System, from Harvard University Extension School (1991).

Counsel to Promotora Casa Nua S.A.S. ,a leading senior housing developer operator in Medellín and Bogotá, in connection with the development of the largest senior living project in Chía, Cundinamarca. Our engagement encompasses strategic legal support throughout the project’s lifecycle, including regulatory compliance and negotiation trust agreements.

Counsel to Agroindustrial de Palma Aceitera S.A. (Sucursal Colombia) in due diligence and structuring for the acquisition of rural land intended for the development of a productive project.

Counsel to Tiendas Aruma in the structuring of a legal strategy to address issues arising in one of Bogotá’s most renowned shopping centers.

Counsel to Betania Colombia in the negotiation of a private agreement and a lease contract for the construction of a new distribution center for one of the largest retail companies in the country.
