Career

Jorn de Bruin is an attorney-at-law at AKD with years of experience practising pension law. Acting for pension administrators as well as social partners and major employers, national and international, Jorn is able to view pension issues from various perspectives. If an out-of-court solution proves impossible, Jorn will litigate for his clients, having ample experience of administrative and civil-law proceedings. Jorn’s recent work includes advising and litigating on disputes over scopes of operation, pension scheme changes, the interpretation of pension promises, pension scheme rules, administration rules and contracts, group transfers of pension benefits, and the implementation of new legislation.

As an offshoot of his pension practice, Jorn advises both sides of industry on their legal positions vis-à-vis each other or pension administrators.

Last but not least, Jorn advises education institutions on such issues as the consequences of administrative transfers, alterations to collective terms of employment, relations with participation councils and trade unions, and the effects of the Senior Executives in the Public and Semi-Public Sector (Standards for Remuneration) Act [Wet normering topinkomens].

In 2013, Jorn graduated from the pension law faculty of the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam with distinction. Jorn is a regular author and lecturer. He is a tenured pension law lecturer at SDU (teaching courses on senior employees and flexible workers), a tenured lecturer at the Education Law course of the Vrije Universiteit, a tenured lecturer at the Stichting Pensioen Opleidingen and a regular lecturer at other institutions, such as the Academie voor de Rechtspraktijk and the Pension Law Current Developments lectures at the Vrije Universiteit.
