Career
Joris Rijken is a lawyer, non-practising doctor and partner at AKD who is specialised in contracting and regulating care and who acts primarily on behalf of care providers. He assists them in health care procurement, substantive inspections and contacts with the Dutch Healthcare Authority [Nederlandse Zorgautoriteit] (NZa), the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate [Inspectie voor Gezondheidszorg en Jeugd] (IGJ), the National Health Care Institute [Zorginstituut Nederland] and other government bodies.
Joris used to work as the permanent lawyer for Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport [Ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport] (VWS), the NZa and care insurers. As a result he knows all the ins and outs of these organisations.
Joris is an analytical and accessible lawyer. In stressful complex situations he is able to create calm and purpose. He litigates when necessary and his style is incisive but fair.
