Jennifer Platzkere Snyder is Partner and Co-Chair of the Labor and Employment Practice at Dilworth Paxson LLP, where she represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, including employment discrimination and other workplace litigation, traditional union-management relations, noncompetition and trade secret disputes, wage and hour audits, workplace investigations, and advice on discipline and discharge matters. In addition to providing practical guidance on minimizing litigation risks and implementation of meaningful workplace policies and contracts, Jennifer is a passionate advocate in litigation in Federal and state courts and before governmental agencies and arbitrators. Her clients range from entrepreneurial start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, municipal governments and not-for-profit organizations.

A Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, and a member of the American Employment Law Council, Jennifer has been consistently peer-rated AV Preeminent and has held various leadership roles within the American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law, including its Committee on Practice & Procedure under the NLRA. She currently serves as a Co-Chair of the Section’s Trial Institute.

A dynamic lecturer and thought leader on legal issues facing today’s workplaces, Jennifer also serves on the Executive Leadership Team of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women, Philadelphia. She is an active member of the Forum of Executive Women, having just concluded three consecutive terms on its Board of Directors. Elected a Fellow to the American Bar Foundation for her outstanding achievements, dedication to the welfare of her community, and the highest principles of the legal profession, Jennifer is also a longstanding member and leader of the Temple American Inn of Court, for whom she won multiple national awards for creating and delivering impactful and engaging CLE programs.

Jennifer graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business, and received her law degree from Villanova University. She also studied at the National Theater Institute at the O’Neill Theater Center, is a lifelong professional actor and singer, and holds the rank of second-degree black belt in Kempo.

Work Highlights

- Successfully defended premier Tier 1 organ procurement organization against baseless claims of race discrimination, harassment and retaliation filed by employee who was terminated after three months due to an inability to demonstrate even a basic level of proficiency in performing the mission critical job of tissue recovery specialist, despite dedicated and extensive training, securing withdrawal of court action with prejudice in the face of a motion for sanctions against plaintiff and his counsel.

- Represents the U.S.’s fourth largest housing authority in connection with wide variety of labor disputes with its incumbent unions and defense of employment discrimination and other administrative and court actions, securing early resolutions of claims where protective of business interests as well as summary judgment in connection with meritless claims filed in court against the authority and its employees alleging harassment, discrimination and retaliation.

- Secured the dismissal of a putative wage and hour class and collective action on behalf of one of the region’s largest home health companies, based on contractual provisions requiring arbitration as the forum for deciding disputes and waiving rights to participate in class or collective action claims.

- Represented top 10 children’s museum in responding to union organizing activity from relatively new workforce hired after musuem’s reopening following an extended pandemic-prompted closure, strategizing with museum leadership throughout campaign, educating board of directors and supervisors, navigating the nuanced intersection of issues pertinent to non-profit organizing, and working to facilitate negotiations of first contract.

- Successfully facilitated privately held family-owned and led baking company in onboarding CFO from third-party contractor, including prevailing in defending injunction litigation filed by contractor to enjoin individual from joining baking company and ultimately negotiated for comprehensive resolution of dispute in cost-effective manner that met client goals.

- Represented behavioral health organization in connection with successive audits by U.S. Department of Labor, proactively explaining wage and hour practices, minimizing exposure and risk of penalties, and resolving concerns prompting audits by working with company to modify staffing policies.

- Defended major insurer and its employees against claims by long-tenured clerical employee alleging employment discrimination, sexual harassment, whistleblowing and retaliation following her termination, securing dismissal with prejudice of various claims and certain defendants (including CEO) and ultimately resolving case on favorable terms to client on eve of jury trial.
