Jamie practises primarily in costs and professional negligence. He has been at the forefront of costs litigation since the "CFA wars" of the noughties and has wide experience of every aspect of costs, including inter partes (litigation and arbitration), solicitor-client, wasted and non-party costs orders, retainers and litigation funding and liens. Jamie is a highly experienced advocate with multiple appearances in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. As an expert on litigation funding, Jamie has been involved in many of the recent applications for collective proceedings orders in the Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Jamie's professional negligence practice comprises mostly claims against lawyers (for claimants and defendants), but also accountants, valuers, insurance brokers and financial advisers. He regularly deals with high value and document heavy claims. Jamie has significant experience of clinical negligence litigation, which he can bring to bear in related professional negligence claims. In 2022, Jamie successfully defended a multi-million pound solicitors' negligence claim at trial, which collapsed after his cross-examination of the claimants' main witness.

Personal

Jamie is a keen musician, playing the piano, guitar and drums. He plays in a band and constantly battles the urge to acquire vintage synthesisers. Sporting interests include rock climbing and cycling. He is also a season ticket holder at Tottenham Hotspur, where he predicts great things for the future (as he has done for as long as he can remember).
