Jamie Carpenter KC

Jamie practises primarily in costs, professional negligence and commercial litigation. He is a highly experienced advocate, with multiple appearances in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Jamie is one of the most experienced members of the costs Bar and deals with every aspect of costs, including inter partes (litigation and arbitration), solicitor-client, wasted and non-party costs orders, retainers and litigation funding and liens. As an expert on litigation funding, Jamie’s advice and advocacy are particularly sought after in relation to applications for collective proceedings orders in the Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Jamie's professional negligence practice comprises mostly claims against lawyers (for claimants and defendants), but also accountants, valuers, insurance brokers and financial advisers. He regularly deals with high value and document heavy claims. Jamie has significant experience of clinical negligence litigation, which he can bring to bear in related professional negligence claims.

Jamie practises in all areas of commercial litigation and arbitration, including contractual disputes, D&O claims and civil fraud. He deals with interim injunctions and has experience of a wide variety of arbitration-related court proceedings, including challenges to and appeals from awards under sections 67-69 Arbitration Act 1996.

Jamie is a keen musician, playing the piano, guitar and drums. He plays in a band and constantly battles the urge to acquire vintage synthesisers. Sporting interests include cycling, rock climbing and an emotionally damaging relationship with Tottenham Hotspur FC.
