A member of the Genoa Bar Association and admitted to plead before the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation, he is the President of the Italian Maritime Law Association since 2005 and Vice President Honoris Causa of the Comité Maritime International, where he continues to hold important positions after being the Senior Vice President from 2012 to 2018.
He is also the Vice President for Italy of Instituto Iberoamericano de Derecho Maritimo, the Editor in Chief of the Quarterly Il Diritto Marittimo, the oldest Italian shipping law Journal, founded in 1899, a Member of the Contributory Board of Droit Maritime Français and of the Scientific Board of Rivista del Diritto della Navigazione, as well as a member of the Board of Arbitrators of the Italian Shipowners Association.
His practice includes either wet and dry shipping and contentious matters. Notably he obtained the first decision by an Italian Court on piercing the corporate veil in a shipping case and the highest percentage of salvage reward ever adjudged by an Italian Court.
His extensive knowledge of shipping law is poured into the constant writing of numerous publications, which in 2022 include articles on a variety of topics such as limitation of liability, arrest of ships, maritime liens and mortgages, salvage, judicial sale of ships, flag and registration of ships.
