Francisca Román is a distinguished insurance law specialist with a career spanning leading Chilean law firms and major corporate legal departments. Until January 2024, she was a partner at Estudio Carvallo, where she led the legal recoveries and insurance litigation defense practice. Her previous experience includes roles at Urrutia & Cía., Telefónica Móviles Chile, Cariola Diez Pérez-Cotapos, and Álvarez Hinzpeter Jana & Valle.

In academia, she serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Private Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile and teaches in the Insurance Law Diploma programs offered by the Insurance School of the Association of Insurers of Chile A.G., in partnership with the University of Los Andes, as well as LLM in damages at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.

She holds leadership positions in the insurance legal community as director of AIDA Chile, and is an active member of the Chilean Bar Association, and the “Directory of Women Experts” in insurance law. Recognized for her expertise in dispute resolution, Francisca is listed as an arbitrator with the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Santiago’s Chamber of Commerce (CAM) and with ARIAS LATAM.

Francisca is a lawyer from the University of Chile, and she has a Diploma in Civil Liability in Chilean Civil Law from the same university, and a Diploma in New Scenarios of Civil Liability from the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
