Fernanda Jiménez

Fernanda is a lawyer specialized in the area of environmental law, with vast experience in complex environmental policy and regulatory issues, both in Costa Rica and at the international level. She works regularly with relevant environmental authorities, such as SETENA, SINAC or the Water Department at MINAE, and has advised numerous clients on issues such as environmental requirements for real estate projects, water and waste management regulations and industrial emission standards. She served as the main legal advisor to the Tourism Infrastructure Department at the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency, CINDE, providing legal guidance to potential foreign investors in Costa Rica and has also done relevant consulting work for several international projects and organizations, such as the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and Project Lifeplan, an initiative funded by the European Research Council.

Fernanda holds an LL.M. Degree in Environmental Law and Policy from Stanford University and a Licenciate Degree (JD equivalent) from the University of Costa Rica. She is a visiting lecturer at the UN Mandated University for Peace, teaching a class on International Environmental Law.
