Evan Wolff is co-chair of Akin’s cybersecurity, privacy & data protection practice and a trusted adviser to Fortune 100 companies, government contractors and critical infrastructure operators on complex cybersecurity and data protection matters. He brings more than two decades of experience guiding clients through high-profile cyber incidents, regulatory challenges and evolving threat landscapes.
Evan is widely recognized for his deep technical background and ability to integrate legal, technical and governance considerations into pragmatic solutions. He has led investigations into numerous cybersecurity incidents, advised on significant data breaches and regularly develops and tests incident response plans through training and simulations.
His practice also includes advising on privacy and data security compliance, including U.S. and global regulatory frameworks, as well as broader governance and risk management issues.
Prior to Akin, Evan served as an advisor at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, advising on cybersecurity risk, policy and governance. He draws on this experience to counsel boards and executives on mitigating cyber risks and responding effectively to emerging threats.
Career
For many years, Evan has been recognized as a leading cybersecurity and privacy lawyer, including being named to Cybersecurity Docket’s Incident Response Elite (2026). He was also recognized as a “Homeland Security Professional to Watch” in 2009 and was honored by Northern Arizona University as part of its Honored Alumni and Hall of Fame Ceremony in 2024.
