Edward provides UK tax, trust and estate planning advice to a range of clients, including individuals, family offices, trustees and financial institutions. The majority of his clients have international connections, whether because they have moved to the UK from elsewhere, split their time between jurisdictions and/or have family or assets outside of the UK. As a result, he is experienced in navigating complex cross-border issues and is a specialist in the UK’s FIG regime and the taxation of offshore structures.
Edward co-leads the firm’s Family Office sector which assists family offices with all aspects of their UK legal needs. He also has particular expertise in dealing with multi-jurisdictional probate and capacity matters and is a contributing author to the Law Society’s Probate Practitioner’s Handbook.
When clients interact with the UK tax authorities, Edward advises on filings, responses to HMRC enquiries and voluntary disclosures.
Edward regularly liaises with UK authorities on behalf of the private wealth industry, including in particular through his work as a member of STEP’s UK technical committee.
