Career
The Hon. Diane Welsh (Ret.) is highly respected for resolving disputes with sensitivity, patience and persistence. Over the past 27 years, as a JAMS neutral and U.S. Magistrate Judge, she’s resolved over 5,000 matters covering virtually every type of complex dispute. Extraordinarily skilled in resolving high-stakes multiparty commercial disputes, mass torts, class actions, data breach, insurance coverage, employment, sexual abuse and catastrophic personal injury cases, she has also presided over many aspects of multidistrict litigations while on the bench and as a special master.
Past work includes global settlement of state and federal products liability proceedings, and numerous other high profile cases. These include acting as Special Master of Amtrak Train’s Derailment Settlement Program and as the mediator for global settlements of the state and federal products liability proceedings brought against Stryker Orthopedics, Wright Medical, Bayer Essure and other medical device and pharmaceutical companies.
