Practice Areas

Having historically had conduct of many of the most serious and sensitive cases for the major fraud prosecution agencies (including as former Standing Counsel to the Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office and to the Department for Business Innovation and Skills), David's work is now almost exclusively for front-rank white collar defence firms. He also has a formidable track record in defending charges of homicide, most recently in the so-called ‘Road Rage Murder’. He has a particular interest in the role of forensic science in the trial process and is currently studying for a Diploma in Forensic Medical Science (DipFMS). David read law at Cambridge University, where he was President of the Cambridge Union Society. His early years in practice were in the chambers of George Carman KC, where his work was in the civil jurisdiction with regular appearances in the High Court, but since the early 1990s he has specialised in heavyweight criminal litigation. Alongside his court practice, he is the founder and presenter of the well-known criminal law updating website, ‘CrimeCast’, which now hosts more than 250 videos in which David discusses recent criminal appeals. The videos are accessible free of charge at www.crimecast.law. He is also the crime correspondent for New Law Journal, the premier legal periodical.
