Tom’s practice focuses on corporate and international criminal matters, and Public & Administrative law.
Tom is an Extradition specialist and accepts instructions on behalf of requested persons and judicial authorities. He is regularly instructed to appear in the High Court and at first instance extradition hearings. He is instructed across the full spectrum of extradition issues. His cases involve complex arguments relating to the validity of warrants, dual-criminality, re-trial rights, as well as extensive expert evidence in relation to foreign law and human rights issues. He also has experience concerning applications to certify a point of law of general public importance to the Supreme Court.
Tom’s domestic criminal law practice focuses on Fraud and Regulatory offences arising from commercial activity. He has acted in cases involving offences under the Insolvency Act 1986, Companies Act 2006 and Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986.
Tom has a growing Public & Administrative law practice. He has experience of dealing with challenges by way of Judicial Review linked to extradition proceedings. He also has knowledge and experience of all stages of a public inquiry, including questioning witnesses at oral hearings. He is currently part of the counsel team to the Cranston Inquiry.
Tom is also often instructed in advisory and review work. He has previously acted as Independent LPP Counsel and Disclosure Counsel in large fraud investigations conducted by the Serious Fraud Office and the National Crime Agency.
