David Tait is a partner in the Litigation Group and the Intellectual Property Group in the firm’s Toronto office. He serves as lead counsel for a diverse range of clients in high-stakes and complex intellectual property litigation, with a particular focus on patent litigation. Additionally, he leads significant non-patent mandates, including trademark, trade secret, and contractual disputes.
David frequently represents innovative pharmaceutical companies in patent infringement actions, PM(NOC) proceedings, and Section 8 damages cases. His practice also extends to the technology sector, where he advises prominent clients in fintech, health-related technology, and agriculture.
David appears before the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Ontario Court. He is also committed to pro bono work, providing representation for child refugee claimants as a designated representative before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
