David Meyer

David is Head of Vinson & Elkins’ Restructuring and Reorganization group and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. David’s practice involves representing companies, equity holders, investors, and creditors in all aspects of complex corporate restructurings including chapter 11 cases, out-of-court restructurings, and special situation investments and acquisitions.

Over the course of his career, David has been consistently recognized by the top ranking and research firms including by Chambers, Legal 500, The Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and Turnaround & Workouts. Clients have praised him as, “one of the best debtor-side restructuring lawyers we have ever worked with at any firm,” noted David is “a great thought partner in complex restructurings,” and shared he “is very user friendly and able to distill extremely complex matters into practical concepts” while also commenting that he is “highly likable and effective.”

David is a member of the Complex Case Committee in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas – a popular forum for filing large and complex chapter 11 cases – to assist the Court in evaluating protocol for in-court restructuring processes and other key elements of bankruptcy practice.

David has been a member of the firm’s Partnership Admission Committee and Recruiting Committee, and previously served as the Talent/Diversity lead for the Restructuring and Reorganization group in New York.
