Darcy Ammerman

Darcy is co-lead of McMillan LLP's financial services practice group. Her expertise includes all aspects of establishing insurance business in Canada for insurers (including reciprocals), reinsurers and intermediaries, including obtaining requisite regulatory approvals at the federal and provincial levels. She also has extensive knowledge of provincial insurance requirements, licensing and compliance matters and serves as a key advisor on various types of insurance transactions. Since 2014, Darcy has been providing ongoing compliance advice through the firm's collaboration with Ethidex Inc.'s offering of Risk Manager®, a web-based risk management and legislative compliance tool for both life and P&C insurance companies, fraternal benefit societies and branches across Canada. She also regularly advises auto, electronics and other manufacturers, warranty administrators, etc. on the borderline between insurance and non-insurance products and the implementation and administration of warranty, extended warranty, service contract and other dealer and non-dealer sold programs on a cross-Canada basis. Darcy is a regular speaker on the topic of financial institution regulation and insurance matters, and is known for her substantive contributions to key industry publications. She is recognized in the IFLR1000 Financial and Corporate Guide and as Repeatedly Recommended in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.
