Cole Bredthauer is a partner in Akin’s Energy & Infrastructure practice, based in Fort Worth. Cole advises public and private companies, as well as private equity sponsors and other capital providers, on complex transactions across the oil and gas industry, with a focus on acquisitions and dispositions of exploration and production and midstream assets and companies.
His experience includes advising on joint ventures and other strategic transactions, as well as a range of commercial agreements, including hydrocarbon marketing and transportation agreements, farmouts and farmins and joint development arrangements. Cole is also recognized for his work on oilfield water transactions, where he advises on water sourcing, transportation, disposal and recycling. He has advised on transactions involving billions of dollars in upstream and midstream assets across key U.S. basins. Cole is recognized by The Legal 500 US in M&A: large deals ($1bn+) (2023) and Energy Transactions: Oil and Gas (2023–2025).
