Co-Chair of the firm's Financial Services Industry Practice and Practice Management Partner of its Corporate Department, Chris serves clients in the areas of banking, corporate and real estate law.
He represents financial institutions, including local and regional banks, credit unions and mezzanine and mortgage lenders in business, regulatory, commercial and consumer lending and workout issues. He routinely guides financial institutions through delicate corporate governance issues and has spoken and been called upon to testify nationally as an expert witness in corporate governance matters. This representation often includes guiding clients in responding to regulatory, law enforcement and other government inquiries on various issues, including fair lending, anti-money laundering and internal fraud. He has advised financial institutions considering succession planning, charter conversion and mergers as part of their strategic planning efforts.
Chris represents local and national commercial real estate owners in sales and acquisitions as well as commercial leasing transactions. He also provides legal guidance to businesses and owners in the startup, funding and continued financing, expansion and sale of business ventures.
Chris has particular experience counseling banking clients on the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and other federal and state privacy and data security laws, including TILA, FCRA and FDCPA. His legal advice includes assisting clients in creating and implementing relevant safeguards and policies.
Additionally, Chris is a former member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
Prior to joining the firm, Chris was a partner at Saul Ewing, where he was vice chair of the firm's Business Department, chair of the Financial Services Practice Group and a member of the Audit Committee.
Chris also served as a clerk to Judge Stephen J. McEwen Jr. of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
