Christine Ing

Christine heads the firm’s National Technology Group and co-heads its Fintech Group. Christine’s practice focuses on commercial transactions involving technology, data and intellectual property. She is frequently sought in relation to digital transformation and collaborative innovation deals, involving novel technologies (including AI and blockchain). In the past several years, Christine has increasingly focused on data driven commercial arrangements that involve bilateral data sharing, data licensing, big data analytics and AI. She is one of Canada`s leading lawyers in open banking. She has extensive experience in the payments field, including in credit cards (issuing and acquiring sides), cross border wires, smart wallets and agentic commerce. She is one of Canada`s leading experts in open banking. Christine has had over two decades of experience in a wide variety of complex commercial arrangements having technology at their core, including outsourcing, systems and software acquisitions, systems and software development, licensing, various ASP and SAAS arrangements, complex services agreements and distribution/reseller agreements. Christine regularly acts for major Canadian financial institutions and other Fortune 500 companies.

Prior to joining McCarthys, Christine was a partner and co-head of the Information Technology group at another major Canadian law firm.
