Practice Areas
Carolyn has extensive energy and general commercial transactional experience in conventional and unconventional resources in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, including joint ventures, partnerships, infrastructure project development, the acquisition and disposition of companies and assets, royalty transactions, transportation and the negotiation of commonly used industry agreements. Carolyn represents project proponents, provincial governments, first nations businesses, service companies, suppliers, banks and other financial interests.
Carolyn provides guidance with respect to the negotiation and preparation of various commercial agreements between industry proponents and First Nations in various commercial endeavours, including oil and gas, services, community development, food services, alternative energy projects and others. She advises First Nations-owned businesses on corporate governance matters and advantageous business structures, such as limited partnerships and non-profit entities.
Career
Carolyn has been a Director and President of the Canadian Energy Law Foundation, which aims to enhance understanding of current and emerging legal issues important to the Canadian energy sector. She has also been a member of the executive of the Canadian Bar Association – Natural Resources Section. Carolyn does numerous presentations to industry proponents and members of the legal profession regarding matters of importance to the energy sector.
