Examples of high-profile mergers and other transactions in the power industry include: several acquisitions of large renewable energy portfolios (including Madison Energy Investments, Cypress Creek Renewables and Clearway Energy) by private equity firms, ITC Holdings’ sale to Fortis, JPMorgan's sale of its physical commodities trading businesses, American Electric Power's acquisition of Central and South West Corp., and the acquisition of TXU by a group of private equity firms.
