Bjørn Åge Hamre has a broad background in corporate law with a great deal of experience in contract law, restructuring and insolvency in particular.
Bjørn Åge assists companies in connection with restructuring processes and negotiations, including transactions to secure businesses and reduce creditor losses. He also assists Norwegian and foreign companies, including banks and other creditors, in strategic decisions to safeguard their creditor interests. Since the Norwegian Restructuring Act was passed in 2021, Bjørn Åge has been involved in several of the restructuring cases instituted in Norway, advising both companies undergoing restructuring and creditors.
Bjørn Åge is regularly appointed by the District Court as trustee of a bankruptcy estate, and over the past ten years he has been trustee in some of the largest bankruptcies in western Norway. He also has extensive experience in consulting on contract issues and regularly assists clients in negotiations and contract drafting. Bjørn Åge is a member of the Norwegian Advisory Council on Bankruptcy. The Council issues statements on questions of principle relating to administration of estates and is a permanent advisory body to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security in the development of legislation in the field of bankruptcy and insolvency. In addition, it draws up guidelines that are followed by Norway’s courts and trustees.
