April Kim is a partner in Akin’s Projects & Energy Transition practice, based in Los Angeles. April focuses her practice on energy industry transactions, advising on tax equity and tax credit transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and project development and finance.

She represents developers, sponsors, investors, lenders and other stakeholders across a wide range of transactions in the energy sector. April has extensive experience drafting and negotiating complex transactional documents, including tax equity structures, credit agreements, tax credit transfer agreements, and a wide range of commercial project contracts. April is recognized by Law360 as a Top Legal Talent Under 40 (2023) and by The Legal 500 US as a Next Generation Partner in Project Finance: Energy (Renewable/Alternative Power) (2025).
