Education: He holds an LL.B. from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo—PUC-SP (2005) and an LL.M. in General Legal Studies from the University of Chicago Law School (2009). He was the first LL.M. student to receive “The Ann Watson Barber Outstanding Service Award for Exceptional Contributions to the Quality of Life at the University of Chicago Law School”.

Academic credentials, speaking engagements, etc: He is a Professor of Technology, Data Protection and Privacy at the Institute of Education and Research (INSPER) and is involved in several speaking engagements.

Practice Areas

Andre is an expert in (i) Privacy and Data Protection / Brazilian Data Protection Law (LGPD), supporting clients on complex consulting, litigation, administrative, and regulatory matters, including data breaches and Authority communication; and (ii) in Technology and Privacy Litigation and consulting matters, representing varied big tech companies and startups on strategic litigation matters (mainly Class Actions) involving Technology, Privacy, Data Protection, Innovation and Consumer Laws, as well as producing legal opinions on complex consulting matters. He also represents tech companies such as Uber before the Brazilian Ads Self-Regulation Council - CONAR. Some of his key clients are Google, Meta/Facebook, TikTok, Mercado Livre, and Nubank.

Career

Before joining BFBM in 2020, Andre worked as a Senior Counsel at the Google Legal Department in São Paulo and London for 8.5 years, where he was responsible for a complex, diverse and large Litigation, Regulatory and Law Enforcement portfolio of hundreds of lawsuits, including Class Actions and Investigations by Public Prosecutors and Consumer Protection Agencies, as well as in content moderation and removals, Platform Liability for third-party content, Privacy and Data Protection, Intellectual Property, Online Advertising, Child Safety, Freedom of Expression, Account Suspensions for Policy violations, Consumer Protection and Digital Electoral Laws. He also worked at TozziniFreire Advogados for more than 8 years, where he rose from intern to senior associate, and at White & Case LLP in NYC as an international associate.
