Practice Areas
Alex is expert in transport law, with particular interest in developing laws of new technologies such as e-scooters, e-bikes, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated vehicles. Alex teaches at Imperial College London as the Honorary Senior Research Fellow in Road Transport Law.
Alex has advised individuals and industry clients on a wide range of legal issues related to road and other modes of transport, including contractual disputes and prototype testing. He has experience working with multidisciplinary teams and in-house counsel. Alex handles civil, criminal, and public law aspects of vehicle technology, covering areas such as consumer rights, data protection, environmental law, equality, insurance, personal injury, privacy, and product liability. He is an experienced advocate. Chambers and Partners 2021 noted his "very serene courtroom manner ... calm but quite deadly."

Publications
Alex authored the first British book on the law of automated vehicles, "The Law of Driverless Cars: An Introduction," in 2017. His latest book, 'Advanced, Automated and Electric Vehicle Law' (Bloomsbury Professional, 2024), addresses the laws of self-driving vehicles and the regulatory landscape of driver assistance systems and electric vehicles. He writes for Bingham's Personal Injury and Motor Claims Cases and the legal blog AEVlaw.com and posts regularly on legal and tech issues on Linked In.
