Career
Keith has been instructed in some of the most significant health and safety cases, inquest and inquiries in recent years. Health and Safety cases include the Heathrow tunnel collapse, Paddington rail crash, the Stockwell Shooting, Cotswold Geotechnical Ltd (first prosecution for statutory offence of corporate manslaughter), Tata Steel UK Ltd (first successful appeal by a very large organisation sentenced under the new Sentencing Guidelines), the Croydon Tram Crash and numerous serious work related cases both at trial and on appeal. Keith has extensive experience of public inquiries (such as the Ladbroke Grove Rail Inquiry, the D Inquiry, the initial Mid-Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Inquiry, Grenfell Tower Inquiry, Manchester Arena Inquiry and the Covid Inquiry) and inquests (for example, the 7/7 London Bombings, Vauxhall Helicopter crash, Crossrail, Croydon Tram Crash, Shoreham Air Disaster, the Sala case and other air crashes, work related deaths, deaths in custody, military including inquest into the deaths of 6 RMP soldiers in Iraq, and deaths of 3 SAS recruits on the Brecon Beacons). More generally, Keith advises and appears in public law cases related to his practice areas, including representing coroners, and is accustomed to dealing with complex civil litigation. Before taking Silk Keith was appointed to the A Panel of Treasury Counsel. In 2017 he was Chambers and Partners Health and Safety Silk of the Year. In 2021 Keith was appointed an Assistant Coroner
