Practice Areas

A partner in the labor & employment practice, Adam Abrahms represents employers on strategic labor-management relations in both organized and nonunion operations. He guides employers through collective bargaining and other complex labor negotiations and counsels on matters related to union organizing, representation/decertification elections, corporate campaigns, unfair labor practices, and union contract administration and management. He represents clients before the National Labor Relations Board, other federal and state agencies, and in federal and state courts. Adam represents employers in numerous industries including healthcare, energy, logistics, transportation, hospitality, and media and entertainment industries.

Adam negotiates in a myriad of contexts, including first contract, successor, and closing agreements, as well as in multi-unit, multi-location, multi-employer, and multi-union situations. With regard to management-side healthcare, he leverages his experience in hospital negotiations, keen grasp of the industry’s labor unions and their tactics, and deep knowledge of acute care hospital bargaining unit rules to support management needs and objectives.

In addition, Adam handles employment-related matters for employers, from counseling on compliance with federal and California employment, wage and hour, and noncompete issues, to assisting with developing and implementing preventive workplace practices, policies, and procedures. He defends disputes involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination in federal and state courts and before federal and state administrative agencies.

A well-regarded thought leader, Adam regularly speaks and writes on labor and employment law and has advised members of US Congress and the California State Legislature on many employment issues. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Adam co-chaired the labor management relations practice of another national law firm, where he also served on its board of directors.
