Firm Overview: Established in 1993, Makes & Partners (“Makes”) is an independent, innovative and creative Indonesian law firm with a history of forward thinking. The market recognises Makes as a strategic leader for integrated commercial business and legal solutions. Makes advises both Indonesian and international clients and helps them achieve their commercial goals by providing timely, practical and high quality legal services. As a trendsetter, Makes has achieved a number of firsts in Indonesia. Makes advised on the first IPO of an Indonesian real estate investment trust on the Singapore Stock Exchange, the first privatisation of an Indonesian state-owned company, the first voluntary tender offer, the first noncash settlement rights issue and many others. Makes’ track record shows a propensity for innovation and ground-breaking achievements.
Always a forward thinker, we welcomed the era of greater ASEAN and Pan-Asian economic cooperation and integration by forming a strategic alliance with leading Singapore firm, WongPartnership LLP (“WongPartnership”). Makes, in partnership with WongPartnership’s top notch Litigation and dispute resolution group has also launched a litigation and dispute resolution practice, to assist clients in the full spectrum with their legal needs both in Indonesia and overseas, to be delivered with the same level of proven quality and excellence. With this dynamic team, Makes is now able to offer a full range of legal services to clients.
In addition, we also established a strategic alliance with Lubis Santosa Maramis (“LSM”), a move that leverages our expertise in our respective fields of capital markets-merger & acquisition-corporate finance (for Makes) and litigation & arbitration (for LSM) and allows us to provide seamless and optimal services to our clients.
In our more than 20 years of practice in Indonesia we have also developed a solid relationship with government agencies and the Indonesian legal community and that aids us in updating our clients with significant developments in the economic and legal sectors and then assisting them accordingly. Our lawyers are assisted by special counsel attorneys who have served as senior officials in government ministries and in the Supreme Court. We have also managed to boost our ties with a number of top tier law firms in the U.S., U.K., Europe, Asia Pacific, Singapore and Australia. We will be pleased to provide information on our selective international networking, upon request or as the transaction may require.
