Yvonne Ong

Intellectual Property.

Yvonne obtained degrees in Commerce and Law from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia in 1999 and 2000 respectively. She became a partner of the firm in 2011, having been admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2002, and now heads the Intellectual Property practice group.

As a registered Trademark, Patent and Industrial Designs Agent, she and her team work to ensure the protection and enforcement of clients' intellectual property rights. In the process, she deals with all types of intellectual property issues, including brand strategising, policies and enforcement and undertaking litigation where necessary. Her clients range from sole proprietorships to multinational companies which are household names.

Yvonne is the current President of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Association, having previously served as its Honorary Secretary. She is also an active member of both the IP Committee of the Malaysian Bar Council and the ICC Malaysia Intellectual Property Working Committee

Yvonne has been named as a “Trade Mark Star” by the publication IP Stars for the year 2025. For some years, she has been recognized as a leading intellectual property practitioner by Chambers Asia Pacific. She has also been ranked as Recommended by Lexology Index (formerly known as Who’s Who Legal) in the category of “IP – Trademarks”.

Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya (2002); Trademark, Patent and Industrial Designs Agent; President of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Association; Member of the Malaysian Bar Council Intellectual Property Committee, the ICC Malaysia Intellectual Property Working Committee, the Executive Committee of AIPPI Malaysia, the ASEAN Intellectual Property Association, the International Trademark Association and the Asian Patent Attorneys Association.
