With decades of experience, the Intellectual Property (“IP”) department has substantial expertise in IP commercialization, management, enforcement and protection, including advising on joint ventures, technology transfer and licensing, software contracts, IP audits and policy making.  As a leading provider of legal advice on IP, the firm has been constantly ranked by leading publications as being amongst the top law firms in Malaysia for IP.

The work includes:

  • Co-ordinating the protection and enforcement of clients’ IP rights (“IPR”) in Malaysia and abroad
  • Filing applications for patents, utility innovations, industrial designs and trademarks and subsequently prosecuting and monitoring of these applications
  • Advising on the commercial exploitation of IPR, e.g. licence/franchise agreements
  • Implementing educational and marketing campaigns involving IPR for clients
  • Representing clients in the Courts and before the Intellectual Corporation of Malaysia in opposition proceedings
  • Implementing anti-piracy / anti-counterfeiting programs for clients
  • Strategising with clients to devise effective solutions for the protection of their IPR.

The firm's network of overseas affiliates of legal firms and IP services companies is also on hand to assist with wide-ranging expertise.
