Yu-Jin Tay is the Managing Partner of Mayer Brown's Singapore office and is the global co-head of Mayer Brown’s International Arbitration practice.
Yu-Jin specialises in international arbitration across a wide range of sectors and geographies. He has experience of most of the world’s leading arbitral seats (including Paris, London, Geneva, Zurich, New York, Washington DC, Hong Kong, Seoul and Dubai) and has 25 years of specialist arbitration experience across a wide range of sectors including LNG, energy, mining and natural resources, technology and manufacturing, construction and infrastructure and investment treaty arbitration, involving the world’s leading arbitral seats and institutions.
Yu-Jin sits regularly as presiding, sole and co-arbitrator in ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, LCIA, VIAC and ad hoc arbitrations. He is also a specialist panel mediator of the Singapore International Mediation Centre. He also has a long history of serving in leadership positions within the Singapore arbitration community, currently as elected President of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and Chair of the Arbitration Bar Committee.
Since 2001, Yu-Jin has advised or represented investors or states in investment treaty arbitrations and, since 2013, he has been a member of ICSID's panels of arbitrators and conciliators, designated by the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
In May 2019, he led Mayer Brown’s Asia team to winning the Financial Times Award for Most Innovative Dispute Resolution Team in the Asia Pacific and received an individual commendation. Yu-Jin was one among four Asian lawyers featured in Global Arbitration Review's global 45 under 45 ranking in 2011 and has been ranked among the top partners in Arbitration: Future Leaders for consecutive years.
