Walied Soliman KC

Walied Soliman is the Canadian chair of Norton Rose Fulbright and co-founder of its globally ranked Special Situations team. He is widely regarded as one of the leading lawyers in his field internationally. Mr. Soliman has been involved in some of the most significant and complex M&A transactions and proxy battles in Canada and globally, advising buyers and sellers, boards, hostile bidders, and shareholder activists. In addition, Walied’s practice focuses on restructurings, corporate finance, governance, and structured products.

Mr. Soliman was mandated by the government of Ontario to chair its Capital Markets Modernization Taskforce, a year-long effort resulting in dozens of consequential recommendations to strengthen Canada’s capital markets.

Appointed to the Order of Ontario in 2025, Mr. Soliman was recognized for his community service and chosen by the United Nations Association in Canada to be its Global Citizen Laureate and recognized with the King Charles III Coronation Medal. He is the chair of the Board of the Toronto SickKids Hospital Foundation and sits on the boards of Toronto Metropolitan University as well as the BlackNorth Initiative against anti-Black racism, and is a member of The Bishop Strachan School Board of Trustees.
