Steven Fagell

Steven Fagell is co-chair of Covington's White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice Group. As a former senior official in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, Mr. Fagell represents leading companies and senior executives facing high-stakes civil and criminal enforcement matters. He routinely represents clients before the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and other law enforcement and regulatory agencies. Mr. Fagell has particular expertise handling cases involving the FCPA, criminal export controls, and complex accounting fraud. Since returning to private practice from DOJ in 2010, he has achieved extraordinary results for his clients, securing declinations in most of his corporate representations, even after multi-year investigations in which the U.S. government has invested significant resources.
