Stephanie Carman is a meticulous and detail-oriented health care lawyer helping clients respond and adapt to evolving sector trends and regulatory change in Florida and nationally. She is known for sophisticated litigation, investigation, and transactional experience and operational acumen.
Stephanie collaborates with clients to address the rising risk and uncertainty facing the health care and life sciences sphere. Shaped by more than two decades of experience handling high-value disputes and transactions, Stephanie serves as a valuable resource for a diverse client base, which includes academic medical centers, large hospital systems, home health, hospice, and personal care providers, as well as laboratories, information technology, and device companies. As health care ecosystems continue to evolve, Stephanie brings strategic insights informed by on-the-ground experiences to health care M&A transactions, investigations, and complex litigation.
On the transactional side, Stephanie has developed a particular niche in handling the unique and oftentimes time-consuming and complex licensure, accreditation, and payor aspects of health care sales and acquisitions and the opening of new facilities. She works carefully with clients throughout the deal lifecycle to identify needs, manage filings, and ensure compliance for smooth and strategic transactions. Highly attuned to the regulatory framework of the industry, she also counsels clients on day-to-day operational issues, working closely with leadership, management, and regulatory teams alike to remove barriers and broker easeful solutions. From the compliance team to the pharmacy to the c-suite, Stephanie facilitates critical legal and business conversations with system stakeholders operating on the leading edge of innovation and within fluctuating regulations.
As an active listener and effective communicator, Stephanie also protects client interests when disputes arise. She represents corporate, governmental, academic, and individual clients in administrative actions and federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels and mediates a variety of matters as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator. An experienced litigator, she has handled a wide array of adversarial health care matters involving false claims, fraud and abuse, data privacy and security, payor-provider disputes, and qui tam actions. She also works with clients on internal investigations and responding to governmental requests for information. A compassionate advocate, Stephanie devotes equal time and attention as a community thought leader and volunteer.
