Sofía O'Ryan focuses her professional practice on competition/antitrust and consumer law.
In competition/antitrust, she advises on merger control procedures, unilateral conduct, and cartels in investigations before the National Economic Prosecutor's Office (FNE) and proceedings before the Tribunal for the Defense of Competition.
In addition, she advises on the design and implementation of commercial policies consistent with each client's strategic goals and current rules, as well as on the development of compliance programs and internal investigations to timely prevent and detect potentially risky behaviors, assisting clients in the definition of the most appropriate solutions.
Sofía regularly advises clients on competition matters in day-to-day business, focusing on potential abuses of a dominant position in commercial practices and policies. She has assisted in collaboration between competitors, exclusivity agreements, and the use of competitor information, among others, to clients in various industries such as technology, industrial and life sciences.
She also advises on consumer protection in proceedings before the National Consumer Service (SERNAC), civil and specialized courts (CONAR) on advertising regulation, including false or misleading advertising, unethical practices, and other practices that may affect consumers.
