Sidney Berendsen, attorney at law, is a specialist in corporate law disputes, such as disputes involving M&A transactions, disputes between shareholders, proceedings with the Enterprise Chamber of the Court of Appeals and directors’ and supervisors’ liability.
Sidney advised Rabo Vastgoedgroep - a subsidiary of Rabobank Netherlands - in the biggest fraud case ever tried in the Netherlands (the so called Vastgoedfraude). Rabo Vastgoedgroep and Philips Pension Fund incurred damages of hundreds of millions of euros. The mastermind of this fraud - and the members of his criminal organization - have been convicted for fraud, money laundering and bribery. In this case, Sidney and his team conducted internal investigations, levied numerous attachments against the offenders, negotiated many tri partite settlements with the perpetrators and the Public Prosecution Service and started civil proceedings against perpetrators, all in order to 'secure' the position of the client and recover its damages.
