Sergio co-leads DLA Piper's Financial Services and Financial Technology for Latin America special team with José Sosa-Lloréns (Puerto Rico) and is the leader of the Banking and Finance practice in Peru.

He represents commercial banks, investment banks, multilateral agencies, ECA´s, private equity funds and corporations in connection with a wide range of domestic and cross-border financings, including bridge financings, mezzanine loans, syndicated loans, acquisition financings, asset-based loans, and restructurings. He also represents issuers, investors and investment banks in a variety of domestic and cross-border capital markets transactions and advising on a regular basis with respect to securities law matters.

During the last 20 years Sergio has been counseling financial institutions, nonbank financial services firms and financial technology companies on mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments and other corporate transactions, as well as on the full spectrum of legal and banking regulatory matters.

Sergio serves as member of the board of several companies, specifically financial institutions supervised by the Peruvian banking authorities, and share his practice with teaching Banking Law at Universidad de Lima as well as in other private institutions.
