He is internationally recognized as one of the foremost restructuring, bankruptcy, and creditor-debtor rights lawyers and scholars. Rich helped draft the Bankruptcy Code in 1978 as House Judiciary Committee staff and currently serves as Editor in Chief of Collier on Bankruptcy, the leading bankruptcy-law treatise. His restructuring and insolvency law practice spans more than 45 years.
