Career
Ramón graduated from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in 1995 in the top 5% of his class. He coursed an LLM in Financial and Tax Law at Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in 2003 (Cum Laude honors, top 2% of his class).
He also obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from the Stern School of Business of the University of New York, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and HEC School of Management (Paris) (TRIUM Global Executive MBA Program in 2009). Ramón was an equity partner with global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright from 2000 to 2017.
Ramón is head of our banking and finance and securities practices. He advises and counsels clients on major project finance deals, including energy finance, and has co-led and assisted on complex cross-border financing structures for the infrastructure, technology and oil & gas and mining industries in Venezuela and Mexico, including financings for Venezuelan projects by multilateral agencies, credit export agencies, development banks and/or international banks, and innovative arrangements of financing for Venezuelan state entities and companies. Mr. Andrade has vast experience and regularly advises clients on the Venezuelan currency exchange control regime.
As part of his Latin American practice, Mr. Andrade has coordinated and assisted in the recovery of secure and non-secure non-performing loans and corporate reorganizations in several countries (including Argentina, Brazil, Central America, Colombia and Mexico) in the infrastructure, agribusiness, telecommunications, energy (renewable and non-renewable) and mining industries.
Ramón has been recognized by Chambers & Partners Venezuela and Global, in the areas of Corporate Law and Real Estate. He has also been recognized by IFLR 1000 as Leading Lawyer in Energy and Infrastructure and Corporate and Commercial Law. Additionally, he has been recognized by Latin America Corporate Counsel Association: Corporate M&A. Finally, he has been recognized by The Legal 500 Latin America, Venezuela: Level 1 Leading Real Estate Lawyer.
