Career
Francisco Casanova is a lawyer from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and obtained a Master’s degree at Cornell University.
He was a professor at the Venezuelan Institute of Insurance and Universidad Central de Venezuela, and has lectured in matters of insurance, social security, pensions and occupational health and safety.
He was Technical Secretary of the Subcommittee of Occupational Risks of the Presidential Commission for the reform of the Social Security System and a Member of the Technical Advisory Team of the Ministry of Labour for the Reform of Labour and Social Security Legislation.
Professional Memberships
Francisco is member of the Board of Directors of the Venezuelan Association for Private Capital (VENECAPITAL). He is vice-president of FEDECAMARAS's Committee on Labour Affairs and Social Security, and member of the Safety, Hygiene and Environment Committee of the Venezuelan American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VenAmCham). He participated in the 109th Session of the International Labour Conference of the ILO.
Publications
Francisco co-authored the book "Ley Orgánica de Prevención, Condiciones y Medio Ambiente de Trabajo (LOPCYMAT). Compliance and Responsibilities. Analysis and Experiences 2005-2010." This is a landmark work in the area of Occupational Health & Safety.
