Rafael brings over 28 years of compliance expertise and 25 years of corporate and governance law experience, supported by an international education and advanced training. With five years of leadership experience at a major Brazilian law firm, he has a proven track record in managing high-stakes situations, including crisis management, corporate investigations, regulatory negotiations, and complex dispute resolution.

A strategic thinker, Rafael has spearheaded firmwide initiatives, such as developing new practice areas, and draws on his multidisciplinary background to guide clients through challenging legal and business scenarios.

Career

Before joining Huck Otranto Camargo as head of the firm’s newly established Compliance team, he served as head of Veirano’s Compliance department, where he successfully elevated the team to industry recognition from both professional publications and market stakeholders.

Rafael earned his LLM (2001) from the University of Michigan. His educational background includes post-graduate specialisations in tax law (1998) from CEU Law School and maritime/admiralty law (2007) from Tulane University with the Aegean Institute of Law of the Sea and Maritime Law. He further enhanced his professional qualifications by completing the IBGC Training Course for Board Members (2022) and currently serves as a board member for non-profit organisations. He received his LLB (1997) from Universidade de São Paulo (USP).
