Career
Rafael joined the firm in 1991 and became a partner in 2004. He currently heads the administrative, labor and immigration practice areas and is the current Chairman of the Firm's Board of Directors. He is an expert lawyer in labor law, immigration law, administrative law, public procurement and litigation matters.
He has advised the most important energy and telecommunications companies in the region, including ENERGUATE, Ufinet, InstalCobra and Gas Natural Fenosa. Agencies, publications and international legal directories such as Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer and IFLR1000 have highlighted him among the best lawyers in the country, especially in administrative and energy matters.
He was also decorated with the official cross of the order of civil merit by the King of Spain, Juan Carlos I, in 2014.
He is the President of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce of Guatemala and of the Association of Binational Chambers of Commerce of Guatemala. He has been a member of several trade associations, chambers of commerce and foundations, as well as a board member of important companies in the technology, energy and telecommunications industries. He has been a professor of law at Universidad Francisco Marroquín, his alma mater.

He has also assisted in the legal advice of some of the largest investments in Guatemala in construction projects of highways,
buildings and telecommunication towers. He has advised clients in labor lawsuits and administrative appeals. Finally, he has
advised local and foreign companies with operations in Guatemala on labor law and immigration matters.
