Penny is a partner and Head of our Global Financial Services Regulatory practice across Europe, Asia and the Middle East bringing together our global team to clients advising on the synergies and divergences between different jurisdictions with a team of over 200 lawyers.

Penny specialises in a wide range of UK and EU regulatory matters including advising a significant number of firms on the implementation and ongoing compliance and enforcement issues relating to the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR), managing related governance, conduct risk and culture issues and the Consumer Duty. Penny is a member of the firm’s Governance and Culture Advisory Team (GCAT) which advises on all aspects of corporate governance, culture, remuneration and risk. The GCAT helps clients navigate the increasingly challenging legal and regulatory requirements in relation to governance and culture.

Penny is also an expert in environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues and sustainable finance looking holistically across the industry at these issues tying into her work on SMCR, conduct risk and products. She is leading on the FS regulatory aspects of ESG for major financial institutions and asset managers.

Penny has advised extensively on the FCA Consumer Duty and the forthcoming European retail investment strategy and its impact across investment bank and asset manager manufacturers, to private bank and wealth distributors and mass retail facing organisations.

Penny served a 3 year term as Chair of the Firm’s Remuneration Committee. Penny recently set up the Strategic Advisory Council – our shadow “executive” to provide a forum for our next generation talent to influence and advise on strategic decision making whilst acting as an ideas factory and sounding board for senior management.
