Martin Kriz specializes in corporate law, corporate finance and insurance practice. He
has been involved in multiple mergers and acquisitions (including their regulatory
clearances), joint ventures, fund raisings and financings in the Czech Republic and
Slovakia, and also in other Central and Eastern European countries. His M&A practice
focuses particularly on the energy, technology, real estate, industrial manufacturing
and finance sectors.
Martin is listed and recommended as a leading practitioner, both in Slovakia and the Czech
Republic, in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, corporate law, and
outsourcing in numerous directories and publications, including Chambers Europe,
Chambers Global, The Legal 500 Europe, Legal Experts, and Best Lawyers.
Throughout his career, Martin has successfully advised on high-profile M&A transactions,
such as advising XXXLutz Deutschland on its acquisition of the Porta Group headquartered
in Porta Westfalica, as well as providing legal counsel to RWE on the sale of its subsidiary
RWE Gas Storage CZ to state-owned electric power transmission system operator CEPS.
He also represented Engie in numerous acquisitions of Slovak and Czech district heating
and facility management businesses and advised Ringier Axel Springer on various
acquisitions and divestments of internet media and online businesses. Additionally, Martin
provided legal advice to the shareholders of Czech ticketing portal GoOut on its sale to the
Piletilevi Group.
Martin holds law degrees from the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague and
Comenius University Law School in Bratislava, as well as an MBA from Warwick Business
School in England. He has been with PRK Partners since 1996, except for a period between
1999 and 2000 when he worked as a foreign associate in a leading law firm in the City of
London. He became a PRK partner in 2001.
Martin is fluent in Czech, English, and Slovak, and has passive knowledge of Russian and
French. He is an attorney at law with both the Czech Bar Association and the Slovak Bar
Association. Martin splits his working time between Prague and Bratislava, where he is the
co-head of our Slovak office.
